Edmilson

Edmilson is a World Cup winner with Brazil and is currently playing for FC Barcelona, widely acknowledged as the best club side in Europe. He has come a long way from the early days in Sao Paulo.

I was never someone who thought that I was more talented than the others. When I was young, I never thought that I would get as far as I have. I never imagined being famous, playing in the World Cup, playing in Barcelona: to me it was just to make a little money at Botafogo (club team) and get my parents a new house and that was it. When I went to Sao Paulo in 94 is when I started to believe that I could earn a lot more money, more success and fame.

It is impossible to put the experience of winning the World Cup into words. There is no way of describing it. It's unbelievable, in terms of emotion and sensation. Everything flashes through your mind. Participating in a World Cup is one thing, being in the squad is one thing, to play all six games and to play in the final goes beyond all that. Even more when you win. I remember in the semi-finals against Turkey, I got to the locker room and cried more after that game than after we won the final. It's a huge professional accomplishment.

I believe that:every project in your life, in your family or profession, or individually, offers very little compared to what God is offering you. Eternal life, an abundant life, a life of happiness. Any thoughts you have about individuality or even your family and even your life is in vain, if you don't have a real experience of God, who made the sky and the earth. Do what I did, what many people have done, because you can only find peace through this experience with God. Find true peace in Jesus Christ.

I wanted to say that the world needs God. The world needs peace. Today many people campaign for peace, but they don't seek the owner of peace. Many people differ on who is the owner of peace, some put their trust in cars and horses, others in other things, but while man doesn't seek the true source of the living water, man will never find peace. I found peace in this Jesus. And you can too, I think. That's why I want to spread what I found. I can't keep it all to myself. That would be hypocritical. I have to spread what I have.

The World Cup comes around every four years, but the game of life only happens once: what's your decision?
